UTAS Research Week 2012 featured the public session A Pocket Guide to Research in the Faculty of Arts, Launceston.
This talk summarises the research of Professor Barbara Hatleyand of Dr Taufiq Tanasaldy, who are both looking at post-1998 Indonesia.
Professor Hatley’s presentation on Performance as Celebrations of Identity, Constructing Community focuses on performance, including theatre, music and dance, for insights into contemporary Indonesian society, given the longstanding involvement of performance in Indonesia in community celebration and political life.
Dr Tanasaldy’s presentation Politics of Identity and Borderland Issues focuses on ethnic identity in Indonesia and ethnic minorities and borderland issues in Southeast Asia.
