Research Interests
Allan's Research is specifically concerned with fundamental organometallic chemistry involving projects of direct relevance to the roles of organometallic compounds in organic synthesis and catalysis, with a particular emphasis on complexes containing metal to carbon sigma-bonds, usually involving palladium or platinum. Studies have included the development of the first organopalladium complexes with oxidation state +IV for palladium, and mechanistic studies of carbon...carbon and carbon...heteroatom bond formation at a palladium(IV) centre, and is currently concentrated on computational studies of mechanism in organometallic chemistry in catalysis.
