Prediction and Management of Australia's Marine Biodiversity PhD Scholarships
The University of Tasmania will offer up to 8 PhD Scholarships in 2008 to undertake research on topics related to the prediction and management of Australia's marine biodiversity. These scholarship are made available as part of the CERF Marine Biodiversity Hub. Applications are invited from domestic and international students.
Eligibility
Successful applicants must have completed at least four years of tertiary education studies and have achieved at least an upper second class Honours degree or equivalent. Awards are only available to those who will be undertaking a Doctoral degree in 2008 and who:
- are enrolling as full-time students or have approval from the Board of Graduate Research to undertake part-time study;
- are not receiving another equivalent award, scholarship or salary to undertake the proposed program (generally less than seventy-five per cent of the base APA stipend rate); and
- have not completed a degree at the same level as the proposed candidature, or at a higher level.
Applicants for the CERF Marine Biodiversity Hub PhD program must undertake a project that has been approved by the CERF Management Committee as suitable for inclusion in the CERF Marine Biodiversity Hub PhD program. Applicants
may chose from the specific PhD projects that have already been identified. Alternatively applicants may propose their own research topics related to the four multidisciplinary project areas. You should contact the leader of each project area to discuss project ideas.
Stipend (2007 rate)
$19,616pa non-taxable. Successful applicants may also be eligible for a top-up scholarship of $5,000 per annum.
