Your course enrolment in the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Marine Science will be in a Commonwealth Supported Place (HECS basis). As QMS PhD Candidates you will receive a HECS scholarship and will not be charged the HECS fees for the course.
You must complete a Commonwealth Assistance Form for HECS HELP in order to be enrolled in the coursework units. You will receive a fees notice that will display the amount of HECS that you would be charged, the scholarship amount and a fees due of $0.00. If there is a figure above $0.00 in the fees due, please contact Vanessa Folvig to have the matter corrected. You will also receive a Commonwealth Assistance Notice after the relevant census date.
There will be a note on your academic transcript as follows: From 2008 candidates must successfully complete 5 compulsory units and 1 elective unit within the Graduate Certificate S5M or the Graduate Diploma S6M which forms the coursework component of the PhD (QMS) .
Candidates will graduate in the Graduate Certificate or Graduate Diploma of Marine Sciences at the time they complete their PhD or if they leave the University having completed the requirements to be awarded the Graduate Certificate.
If you have commenced but not completed the Graduate Diploma at the time you wish to graduate in the QMS PhD and you wish to continue your enrolment in the Graduate Diploma, you will be required to meet the costs for enrolling in the remaining units.
