Ethical Research Practices |
 |
| |
All research undertaken at UTAS must comply with policies and guidelines on ethical research practices. Research involving animals or humans MUST NOT proceed without due consideration of the University's requirements to adhere to national guidelines on the ethical conduct of research. You should work with your supervisor and review the policies and guidelines for research involving animals and/ or humans and apply for the relevant approvals before any field work commences.
Compliance with animal and human research ethics policies is good research practice. It is also required by all funding bodies and a failure to apply for and receive ethics approval for your research project may result in funding for the project being terminated. You can not publish results based on research where ethics approval was required but was not obtained.
Obtaining ethical clearance can be time-consuming and should be factored into research design EARLY in the piece.
