Information for QMS PhD Candidates and Supervisors

External Courses

QMS logo

There are numerous external courses offered in quantitative marine science. Candidates will be notified by email and through the website of courses that are thought to be of interest as they come to our attention. Competitive funding grants are available for QMS Candidates to support their attendance at external courses as well at conferences.

If you wish to attend an external course as part of your candidature you should consult your graduate research coordinator about general approvals required.

Credit for external units/courses

As noted above, QMS PhD Candidates may apply to receive credit towards the Graduate Diploma in Marine Sciences for the successful completion of external courses. If you would like to have an external course at another national or international institution considered for credit, please fill out a cross-institutional application form and send it to Denbeigh Armstrong together with support from your supervisors and details of the course and its content. The QMS Steering Committee will review the request before sending the application to the Faculty of Science, Engineering and Technology for final approval.

You must apply for cross-institutional credit before you undertake the unit/course.
