Marine Science Discussion Groups

The Society of Sub-Professional Oceanographers (SoSo)
Friday mornings, Derwent Room, CSIRO (block 3).

The Society of Sub-Professional Oceanographers is a weekly session that includes:

  1. Student discussions (9-10am): Discussion are led by a PhD student with a focus on research problems/interests related to physical oceanography. Discussions are also led by scientists at an introductory level.
  2. Readings and lectures (10-11am): Discussion of a book chapter followed by a related talk by a leading researcher in the field.

If you are interested in giving a talk, or know (or are!) a researcher who is happy to talk about your field of interest, please contact Paul Durak, Ben Galton-Fenzi, Jan Zika, or Andrew Meijers.

If you know of other discussion groups that may be of interest to QMS Candidates please let the QMS Administrative Officer know so that she can update this induction booklet and notify other QMS Candidates.
