Minimum Infrastructure and Access to Facilities

All candidates will be provided with facilities that meet or exceed those specified in the Minimum Infrastructure Standards for Research Higher Degree Students. Facilities at both the University of Tasmania and CMAR will be available to candidates, where needed, including computer facilities, laboratory access, research vessel support and use of specialised equipment.

The provision of minimum infrastructure and access to facilities is the responsibility of your School. The School's Graduate Research Coordinator should be able to provide you with detailed information on your entitlements.

The QMS PhD Program funds QMS full or top-up scholarships and some competitive travel grants. It does not fund costs associated with infrastructure such as computers, research equipment, printing, photocopying, vehicle hire and other costs associated with the PhD project. These latter costs should be met by your school.

The UTAS policy on minimum infrastructure standards for graduate research candidates can be downloaded from http://www.research.utas.edu.au/gr/policies/index.htm

Your School is responsible for providing you with a secure workspace, after hour's access, computing, printing and photocopying facilities, and access to laboratories, telephones, tea room facilities and University vehicles. The policies of each School may vary and you should consult the induction book for your School or speak with the School's Graduate Research Coordinator.
