Fellowships
The following fellowships are available to QMS PhD Candidates:
Assistance to travel to conferences and to undertake short courses
QMS PhD Candidates may apply for financial assistance to attend interstate and international conferences relevant to their research. Support may also be provided for students who wish to undertake short courses at an interstate or international institution.
Individual candidates may be funded up to $3000 for travel to and from the conference/course, accommodation during the conference/course and registration fees. Preference will be given to those students who have not received prior funding under this program. There is an expectation that Candidates will seek part-funding from other sources, such as their School, to complement funding support they may receive from QMS.
Applications may be submitted at any time throughout the year. However, as there is a limited amount of funding available each year Candidates are encouraged to think through what conferences and/or courses they would like to attend at the beginning of the year and submit an application for support as soon as possible.
QMS PhD Candidates who hold a CSIRO top-up or ACECRC top-up scholarship are not eligible to apply.
Recipients of conference support must provide a conference report or course review of about 1000 words within 1 month of the completion of the conference or course. This will be placed on the QMS website. To view past conference/course reports visit the website: http://www.utas.edu.au/cms/qms/conference_reports/index.html
Your application will be assessed by the QMS Steering Committee. Please provide as much information as possible to assist committee members to assess your application.
