Colonialism and its Aftermath

Narryna Heritage Museum

Tasmanian nineteenth-century fashion:

Clothing can be a key indicator of status and gender. The Narryna Heritage Museum has a collection of over 250 items of clothing spanning the period 1820-1900. While this consists largely of female garments it also includes some male items. The successful applicant will be required to place the collection within a wider context of evolving colonial fashions and 19th century social mores.
