Since 2009 UTAS has been implementing its Sustainable Built Environment Designs policy (PDF 32.7KB).
This policy mandates that all new building projects costing more than $5 million must be designed to meet at least a 5 star Green Star Rating. In addition, all building projects under $5 million are to be designed in accordance with ESD (environmentally sustainable design) principles and are required to provide an ESD report structured according to the Green Star Rating System themes.
