UTAS is one of the largest employers in Tasmania. Most people travel to UTAS campuses in single-occupant cars. The University also manages its own vehicle fleet and procures products and services that involve a transport cost and carbon footprint.
UTAS has the opportunity to build on its already high standing within the Tasmanian community to demonstrate leadership in sustainable practice, including sustainable transport, via its own facilities and operations.
You can reduce your costs as well as the environmental impact of commuting to the University:

The University of Tasmania (UTAS) has developed a sustainable transport strategy to guide investments and actions that deliver more socially, economically and environmentally sustainable transport outcomes and travel behaviours.
The UTAS Sustainable Transport Strategy summarises information on transport issues and practices within the University community and maps out a pathway towards more sustainable transport practices and outcomes. The strategy covers all UTAS campuses and facilities located in Tasmania’s south (Hobart region), north (Launceston region), north-west (Cradle Coast region), and interstate facilities, and addresses transport issues for the whole UTAS community, including students, staff and visitors.
