The Tasmanian Electoral Commission (TEC) are wanting to employ 2 or 3 Computing & Info Systems students, preferably current 1st or 2nd year students, to assist with IT work during election periods. This work will be undertaken from our Hobart office.
This work would involve setting up netbooks ready for specific election events, including marking them out of inventory and returning them after an election, checking they are configured correctly and other general office duties. The pay rate for this work is $21.00 per hour.
We will also have some general office IT work in the coming weeks, either on 14 and/or 15 October, during the week of 21 October or some time the week of 11 November for one or two days. This work can be scheduled around your exams if you are successful in being offered a position.
Work will be intermittent and will in most instances revolve around election dates. In 2014 there will be a House of Assembly election, at a date to be announced, involving four to five days of work. In addition there will be a Legislative Council election where we will require some assistance for two or three days between Friday 4 April to Friday 11 April with actual dates to be confirmed closer to the time. We are flexible with hours and can work around your lectures/tutorials.
If you are interested in working with the TEC and have any questions please contact Kate either by email (kate.roach@tec.tas.gov.au) or phone during work hours (6233 3789) or mobile (0418 538 221). Please email by 9 October, briefly outlining your previous work experience (if any) and include a copy of your faculty record if you wish to work with us. We will contact you by 11 October to advise if you are successful at that time.
