Roles and Responsibilities

 

The Course Coordinator has an important role in quality assurance of course delivery at UTAS and facilitating student success. Course coordination duties include:  course planning, course design and development, course delivery, selection of educational resources, assessment, students’ learning outcomes and course evaluation.



Position Description



The role encompasses course planning, course design and development, course delivery, selection of educational resources, assessment, students' learning outcomes and course evaluation. 

The Course Coordinator has a key role in assuring the quality of UTAS academic programs and facilitating student success at the University.

Course Coordinator tasks may include:
  • Reporting to the Dean and/or Head of School
  • Working closely with the Associate Dean (T&L)
  • Being a member of the Faculty Teaching and Learning Committee
  • Preparing annual course reports as required by Academic Senate
  • Providing course specific advice to students
  • Providing course promotion and recruitment in conjunction with the Faculty Office
  • Developing criteria for ranking entry for admission and forwarding to FTLC for consideration
  • Assessing applications for admission from non-year 12 applicants for those courses that are not assessed by the Faculty Office
  • Monitoring applications, offers and enrolment numbers and related statistics
  • Considering and approving enrolment and credit cases
  • Considering cross-institutional requests
  • Assisting at Assessors Meetings
  • Considering academic records for potential graduands
  • Conducting orientation sessions at the course level (in conjunction with Faculty and School activities
  • Overseeing administration of student progress
