Engineering Design and Communication JEE113

Introduction

This course is designed to give students an overview of engineering design, creativity, visualisation, expression and technical communication using oral and written skills. It provides an introduction to graphical communication using manual sketching and computer-aided drafting. Topics include problem formulation, development of connectional design solutions, basic CAD skills, mechanical drawing to Australian standards and 3D representation. Assessment is by project work, individual and team design assignments and tutorials. Design and Computer Aided Drafting is taught in year one of a four year program. It is the foundation for the advanced courses in engineering analysis and design in the subsequent years and later professional life.
