Introduction

THIS COURSE IS OFFERED ON A HECS-BASIS TO ELIGIBLE STUDENTS. FOR ALL OTHER STUDENTS THIS COURSE IS OFFERED ON A FEE-PAYING BASIS ONLY.

The Master of Journalism and Media Studies is offered on the Hobart campus. It is normally three semesters full-time or may be taken part-time over six semesters.

These course rules and specifications apply to students commencing the Master in Journalism in 2008. For students who commenced prior to 2008, the applicable course rules are those from the year of commencement. i.e. students who commenced in 2005 should refer to the 2005 Handbook.

Admission & Prerequisites

Students with undergraduate degrees or equivalent will be accepted into this postgraduate program.

Course Objectives

Graduates from this program will gain a variety of vocational skills sought after by the media industry, including high level journalistic writing and research skills, understanding of legal, ethical and political implications of the journalist's profession, and a fundamental understanding of the media. They will be expected to use these skills to produce a major research media project.

Credit

Students with other postgraduate awards may apply for credit.
