Recent developments in Australian public sector governance are examined in a cross-disciplinary way-blending legal, management, public administration and public policy perspectives. The focus of this unit is to provide insights from empirical evidence and current practice. Student will reflect on the current issues that emerged under the current and previous governments. The unit aims to enhance student understanding of, and communication about, public governance across government, industry and the community, with particular emphasis on the health sector.
This unit has a particular focus on the Australian tertiary health care system with application to both the public and private sectors. Through your active participation in this unit you will gain both a theoretical and practical appreciation of the governance issues and processes of health care organisations, which is vital for all senior managers and executive within the health sector.
