Courses & Units

Music Practice Extension 1 FCA313

Introduction

In this unit students will be introduced to leadership within ensemble music making through a variety of activities. Students will engage in guided ensemble performance development as well as unsupervised rehearsals in which music leadership will be developed through music direction, repertoire choices and team leadership.

Students will be assigned a small ensemble in which they will investigate ensemble performance through regular rehearsals and lessons that are designed to develop idiomatic specific ensemble skills. It is expected that students enrolled in this unit will additionally guide less experienced students and nurture a collaborative ensemble environment.

Students will perform pieces developed in their ensemble in both workshop and concert settings. Where required, students will record their ensemble in a studio environment.
