Contemporary Techniques A FCP103

Students are required to achieve a minimum of 50% for both the Aural and Theory components of this unit in order to gain a pass overall.

This unit builds upon the skills and understanding gained in Music Materials 1A. The purpose of the unit is to develop musicianship through the study of jazz and contemporary music theory, notation, and aural skills. Students will engage in a variety of activities aimed at connecting the theoretical and practical aspects of music making whilst developing deeper abilities in music literacy, harmonic analysis, rhythm, and improvisational/compositional techniques integral to jazz and contemporary music practice.
