Introduction

The unit provides an introduction to social research as practiced in the social sciences, particularly sociology. Students will be introduced to research methods that enable the collection and analysis of data relating to a range of social phenomena. They will consider how social data are patterned and examine social data using a variety of research methods.

On campus: 1.5 hour weekly lecture; 1-hour lab/tutorial weekly

Off campus: Weekly online lecture and support materials; online Discussion forum weekly.

Three online tests (60%), 2,500 word assignment (40%)
