Introduction

In today's rapidly changing world, conflict is everywhere: in our personal lives, in our workplace and communities, and between nations. Most employers require job applicants to demonstrate that they have "communication and conflict management skills", particularly for team-based or management positions.  This subject provides students with a strong foundation in communication and conflict management skills that they can apply immediately in their personal and professional lives. Students will gain the knowledge and practical skills to prevent unnecessary conflict and to effectively manage inevitable conflict in a constructive manner. The subject is interdisciplinary in nature, including aspects from fields of study such as communication, psychology, social science, political science, management, coaching and dispute resolution. The subject is highly interactive, involving online activities.
