Foundations of Health and Wellbeing in the Community CNA515

The aim of this unit is to apply contemporary evidence based knowledge to the context of health care practice in the community. Using a bioecological model and a strengths perspective, this unit will explore the determinants of health and wellbeing for people and communities. Major biological determinants to be explored include the influence of personal behaviour, attributes and genetics; major ecological determinants include political, environmental, social and familial factors. This unit will also explore how community based nursing practice can respond to these determinants of health and wellbeing across the lifespan. The concept of practice development will be explored as a means of translating research evidence into evidence based nursing practice in the community.
