Introduction
This unit provides you with an understanding of the contextual factors impacting on the health of children and their families, and on service delivery. You will be encouraged to critically reflect on child and family health practice in relation to observations of how legislative, economic and psychosocial factors influence the health of children and families.

- Critically analyse some of the contextual factors impacting on the health of children and their families.
- Explore how these contextual factors, including legislative, economic and psychosocial factors, impact on child and family health practice.
- Apply the concepts of early brain development, attachment theory, resilience and infant mental health, and how this impacts children’s life outcomes.
- Explore the role of Child and Family Health clinicians in supporting positive outcomes while working with families.
