Course rules for L6B Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice
These specifications shall apply to the award of Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
1 An applicant for the award as specified above must:
- 1(a) have completed an academic qualification in law leading to admission to the legal profession, OR
(b) have no more than 2 academic subjects to complete:
- (i) where none of the outstanding subjects is one of the academic areas of knowledge referred to in Schedule 1 of the Legal Profession (Board of Legal Education) Rules 2010; and
- (ii) for which the applicant must be enrolled while undertaking the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice; and
- (iii) the applicant has received the prior permission of the Board of Legal Education to commence the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice.
1A If the applicant has completed their academic qualifications in law at a time that will be more than five years before their application to the Board of Legal Education for assessment of their academic qualifications for the purposes of admission, the applicant must, before entry to the Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice, apply for assessment of their academic qualifications under rule 4(3) of the Legal Profession (Board of Legal Education) Rules 2010, and receive the Board's approval;
2 Candidates for the award shall complete the award requirements, as hereinafter prescribed, in not less than two semesters (equivalent) of full-time study.
3 To qualify for the award, the candidate shall pass all units in accordance with the Schedule accompanying these specifications.
4 The Faculty of Law may from time to time make amendments to the Schedule to these specifications.
5 These specifications shall take effect on 1 January 2015 and shall apply to all candidates for the award.
6 The approved abbreviation for the award of Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice shall be GradDipLegPrac.
