Course rules for M6E Graduate Diploma of Pharmaceutical Science

1In these specifications 'Faculty' means the Faculty of Health Science.

Entry

2To qualify for admission, a candidate for the Graduate Diploma of Pharmaceutical Science must have a minimum of a science-based bachelor degree of the University of Tasmania or of another university or tertiary institution deemed to be equivalent.
3A candidate shall complete the award requirements, as hereinafter prescribed, normally in not less than 12 months of full-time study (or 24 months of part-time study) and in no more than 18 months of full-time study (or 36 months of part-time study) from the time of first enrolment.

Course Structure

4To qualify for the award, a candidate shall pass the seven units specified in the Schedule accompanying these specifications and undertake such practical exercises/experience as may be required to satisfy the award requirements.
5With the approval of the Faculty, a candidate may undertake appropriate units from other awards as alternatives to the units specified in the Schedule.
6[i]Where two or more units of the same name or content are offered within the University, only one may be counted towards the award.
 [ii]In every case the candidate's choice of units and the order in which they are taken shall be subject to approval in accordance with the requirements of paragraph 3.
7A candidate normally may not enrol in any year in units totalling more than 100% weighting, or if the candidate is in full-time employment during any given Semester, more than 50% weighting.
8A candidate entering clinical practice in a clinical agency shall observe the rules, regulations, policies, protocols, procedures and by-laws of that clinical agency.

Credit for Previous Studies

9Passes in subjects or units in other courses (completed or otherwise) in this University or another approved tertiary institution (or other approved professional examining body) may be credited towards the award, provided that the Faculty may specify what more a candidate so credited shall be required to do to qualify for the award.

Miscellaneous

10The Faculty may from time to time make amendments to the Schedule to these specifications.
11These specifications shall take effect from 1 January 2003 and shall apply to all candidates for the award, including those enrolling for the first time in that year and those enrolled subsequently.
12The approved abbreviation for the Graduate Diploma of Pharmaceutical Science shall be GradDipPharmSc.
