The information on this page is for current students. If you are applying for our next intake, please view our Maritime Engineering study options here.

If you are a professional engineer with a 4-year bachelor’s degree in any engineering discipline, this program will change the course of your career.

You will study a wide range of subjects relevant to the development and procurement of maritime engineering systems. Specialisations include Naval Engineering, Maritime Technology Management and Maritime Design. Each of these programs are aimed at engineering professionals already in the workforce, but with limited exposure to the maritime engineering sector.

Our graduates secure employment in advanced technical and management roles in maritime engineering. All programs lead to greater employment and higher degree study opportunities through industry relevant research projects.

Our specialist coursework is designed by experienced maritime engineers and researchers. Delivered through interactive online study resources, this course provides a flexible learning mode for students who wish to continue working while studying. In addition, some units are also available for on-campus study.

Postgraduate Specialisations

Master of Engineering (Maritime Design)

Progress your career into specialist areas of maritime engineering including naval architecture, fluid mechanics and marine and offshore systems. Your studies will combine learning that is specific to the design and construct of vessels with advanced studies in management, project planning and research. You will graduate with an understanding of complex marine environments and the ability to lead engineering projects in the maritime industry.

Master of Engineering (Technology Management)

Technology is creating new challenges and opportunities in the Maritime industry. This specialisation combines studies in maritime engineering with technology management, giving you the expertise to manage complex projects in the maritime industry. Your studies will cover maritime engineering topics including ship design, propulsion systems and associated auxiliary machinery. Graduates follow careers in technical management across a broad range of maritime sectors.

Master of Engineering (Naval Engineering)

Advance your engineering career with the technical skills to work in naval-related sectors. This specialisation builds on your existing skillset to improve the design and performance of naval vessels. You will graduate with an understanding of maritime engineering systems and the technical design abilities required undertake naval projects.

These postgraduate maritime engineering programs provide engineering graduates with in-depth exposure to a wide range of subjects relevant to the development and procurement of marine systems.

The naval engineering and maritime technology management programs are aimed at engineering professionals already in the workforce but with limited exposure to the maritime engineering sector, and who wish to continue working while studying to gain a relevant professional qualification.

The Naval Engineering specialisation enables students to develop their maritime engineering knowledge in areas related to marine vessels or submarines.

All programs lead on to greater employment and higher degree study opportunities through industry relevant research projects.

Career outcomes

The Master of Maritime Engineering degree is targeted at engineering professionals already in the workforce, who wish to pursue, or develop a career in the technical management of maritime engineering projects.
