This course specifically aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, competencies and awareness in preparation for employment in agricultural research organisations and businesses as well as for higher degree research.

The course provides an entry point to an Honours degree for students who have completed science-based degrees other than the BAgrSc, and particularly students who have completed the Bachelor of Agriculture degree.

An honours project gives you the opportunity to explore a topic in detail and answer important questions. Many honours projects are based on industry questions and are supported  by scholarships. You can work closely with industry or community groups, spend time in the field and lab, and gain valuable research skills.

  • 1 Select and apply practical and theoretical techniques to conduct an independent and ethical research project
  • 2 Design, implement and critically evaluate a scientific investigation to address a research question relevant to agriculture
  • 3 Compile and communicate research findings, ideas and arguments to informed professional audiences, both orally and in a written thesis
  • Career outcomes

Honours graduates are highly sought after by industry for their independent thinking and research skills. These skills can be used to solve problems in a variety of careers, such as agronomy, food safety, agricultural policy and research.

Bachelor of Agriculture with Honours graduates are eligible for membership of the Ag Institute Australia.
