The purpose of this unit is to gain a basic, practical understanding of GIS and remote sensing concepts, techniques and their real world applications. Techniques for data collection, integration, manipulation and spatial analysis are introduced. Practical sessions using GIS will emphasize applications of GIS in marine resource management.

Weekly for 13 weeks, 2 X 1h lecture, 1 X 2h practical
Launceston and Cradle Coast: Coursework delivered via audio recordings, linked PowerPoint resource, and required readings (MyLO media). Weekly 3-hour practicals on campus.
Coursework 100% (made up of 40% lab reports & 20% mid term exam and semester long GIS research project 40%)
