Catchment and Coastal Geomorphology KGA326

All teaching and field trips are on Fridays so that students from other campuses may attend with greater ease.

Catchment and coastal sedimentary landscapes change with erosion, landslides, river bank collapse, and coastal retreat with sea level rise, and this unit focuses on understanding processes and management. Vulnerability of different types of coastal systems to environmental change is explored, using international case studies where problems are already occurring, allowing you to understand effective adaptation. Fieldtrips will visit real current situations, and you will learn field and laboratory techniques to assess, monitor and manage to sustain resilience. The context of longer term environmental change, geomorphic thresholds and interactions with biodiversity is incorporated, including ecosystem-based adaptation.

A unit identified as offered by distance, that is there is no requirement for attendance, is identified with a nominal enrolment campus. A unit offered to both attending students and by distance from the same campus is identified as having both modes of study.

Special approval is required for enrolment into TNE Program units.
