Introduction

This unit concerns detailed examination of the physiology and behaviour of aquatic animals. Respiration, feeding and digestion, locomotion, osmoregulation, excretion, reproduction, endocrinology and neurophysiology are discussed in relation to the effects of natural and artificial environmental changes on physiological processes. Fundamentals of aquatic animal behaviour including memory, learning, conditioning and avoidance are examined.
