Vice Chancellor's Leadership Award XLL301

Note:

This is the last year the Vice Chancellor's Leadership Award will be taught as a unit. From 2017 the Award will only be granted as a culmination accolade as part of the Vice Chancellor's Leadership Program.

Only students graduating in 2016 are eligible to enrol in XLL301. All other students will be eligible to enrol in an alternative unit, which will be available on the Course and Unit Handbook by June 2016 for Semester 2 enrolment.

Introduction

The Vice Chancellor's Leadership Award is designed to provide you with opportunities to identify, further develop and articulate your leadership skills as critical components of the employability profile you have developed during your time at UTAS. This unit will explore key leadership development concepts and how these link to employability including: leadership of self; valuing diversity, goal setting, vision building, team building, reflective practice and creativity. Through participation in outward facing service activities and individual and group reflective activities you will explore your own understandings of leadership and have the opportunity to compare and contrast these with your peers. Activities and assessment will support you to reflect on leadership and services experiences you may have participated in during your degree as well as those you will participate in during this unit, supporting you to identify and articulate these as evidence of your graduate employability. You will also consider how leadership and service skills can be embedded into your future professional and personal life. The unit requires a minimum of 30 hours of community service or volunteering. The skills developed in this unit and the experiences required for service will provide evidence of your enhanced employability.
