Students must complete a 15-day clinical practicum and meet clinical practicum requirements. In order to commence workplace learning outside of the University of Tasmania (including clinical placements and visits) students are required to demonstrate compliance with the Faculty of Health and School of Nursing and Midwifery policies relevant to workplace based learning. These include the Police Check Policy and Procedures, Infectious Disease Policy, Code of Conduct, and Safetyin Practice Agreement. Students who do not comply with these policies will not be placed or will be removed from placements and therefore will not be able to complete this unit. Students who have not complied or are unsure of the policies should seek guidance from the School.
This unit uses group work and late enrolment may affect your ability to participate actively.
This unit enables students to further develop the knowledge and skills required for child and family health nursing practice. They will be exposed to new concepts and information that will enable them to manage more complex situations as they move towards independent practice. Learning in this unit will focus upon counselling, immunisation, the management of postnatal depression and complex feeding issues.
