Introduction
This unit builds on CNA756. The content of this unit focuses on the varied anatomical and physiological conditions seen by the perioperative nurse within a selection of different specialities in the perioperative environment. Special considerations relating to nursing different patient cohorts undergoing surgery are also explored. Leadership and management in the perioperative environment will also be examined

Learning Outcomes
- Appraise the attributes and skills required for effective leadership, management, and implementing change in complex collaborative health care environments
- Critically analyse current socio-political and quality drivers and how they impact upon patient centred perioperative care and service improvement.
- Interpret and apply concepts of patient management within surgical specialties and different patient cohorts undergoing surgery.
- Search and appraise current research and evidence bases related perioperative care and using methods of enquiry, evaluative skills and attitudes for critical thinking, problem solving and decision making.
