In this subject, students will be expected to adapt the fundamental principles, concepts and techniques learnt in year 1 and year 2 companion subjects, and apply them to known and unknown practice situations, in combination with relevant companion discipline subject(s). This subject builds on concepts of learning through practice in year 1, by introducing students to more complex learning experiences such as work placements, wicked problems and internships. Students are required in all learning experiences to use initiative and judgement when planning, problem solving and decision making as would be expected in para-professional practice.
Students will exercise self-awareness and judgement to effectively manage relationships when exposed to extended /enhanced methods of practice. Students will develop adaptive leadership and communication skills, and autonomously develop a portfolio of practice. This will require an understanding of “self” and “others” and demonstration of the application of this tacit knowledge and capability in practice. This will be reflected in educational plans and in consultation with their Practice and Portfolio Advisor.
