Professor Bill Gammage AM
(Adjunct Professor, HRC, Australian National University)
When Europeans arrived in Australia galahs were inland birds. Now they range from coast to coast. Why did this change occur? Professor Gammage's talk will be informed by his extensive research on Aboriginal land management at the time of contact.

Burnie has a special role in helping to measure global sea-level change – as the only site in the Southern Hemisphere used to calibrate key NASA and French space agency satellites. Grab this chance to see the satellite in operation and talk in person with scientist Dr Jason Zhang about the project.

Some of the most exciting discoveries about the Universe will be revealed in a lecture by visiting Astronomer Chris Fluke. Dr Fluke works with the Centre for Astrophysics & Supercomputing at Swinburne University. He is visiting Burnie for an international Astrophysics Summer School.
