Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research
The Tasmanian Institute of Agricultural Research (TIAR) is a partnership between the University of Tasmania and the Tasmanian Department of Primary Industries and Water (DPIW). Based within the UTAS School of Agriculture, TIAR is also the School’s research and postgraduate arm.
Formed in 1996, TIAR now has some 200 researchers, postgraduate students and support staff at five locations around the state. Working closely with industry, the Institute undertakes research and development programs designed to address agricultural productivity, safe food production, social and natural resource management issues.
TIAR at Cradle Coast has approximately 15 research staff and 6 postgraduate students working on a range of agricultural research projects in the areas of Vegetable Research, Dairy Research and Natural Resource Management.
