UTAS Cradle Coast campus has expanded its facilities to support increasing need from students, research and teaching staff. The architect-designed facilities include more teaching and learning spaces, a stylish wine bar/café, well-equipped recreation centre, and technology learning hub.
Building opening
hours
The campus buildings are open during semester until the end of classes each day. Reception Office opening hours are 9.00am - 5.00pm Monday to Friday (except Public Holidays).
After-hours access
Students can acess the campus after hours by applying for a 24 hour Access Card. Applications for an Access Card can be obtained from Support Services for a refundable deposit. Cards are to be returned at the end of the academic year.
IT Services
The Hub
Technology resources at Cradle Coast are available to UTAS students and visiting staff in the Learning Hub, providing over 40 workstations equipped with Microsoft Office and email facilities, printing, copying and online information services 24 hours a day using your student or staff Access Card. Our wireless network also enables you to access these services via your personal laptop.
IT teaching lab
The IT teaching laboratory is mainly used for tutorials and workshops.
However, when the lab is not being used for teaching, students may
access this room for study between 9.00am and 5.00pm on week days
during semester.
Uni CampusLink lab
Uni CampusLink provides extension facilities for Cradle Coast staff and students. It is located in Block C at the TAFE campus, Mooreville Road, Burnie with rooms for postgraduate students, teaching, and a second IT teaching laboratory. CampusLink also offers other benefits to UTAS staff and students, including car parking, a cafeteria and library. Open from 7.00am to 10.00pm Mondays to Thursdays and 7.00am to 5.00pm on Fridays.
Printing
Students can print from any computer in the learning hub or computer labs. The cost
of printing is approximately 11c per page for black and 50c for
colour. Money for printing and photocopying can be deposited into a CAPS
account using the coin machines in the Information Resources Area
and at CampusLink, or by EFTPOS at Support Services. When printing,
students will be asked to enter their username and password, and
the cost for printing will be deducted from their account.
Photocopying
Photocopiers are available in the Information Resources Area and
at CampusLink for student use. The charge for photocopying is 12c
per A4 page.
The Wellness Centre
The Wellness Centre includes a gymnasium room and a relaxation area, featuring a pool table, two table tennis tables, air hockey and table soccer games and lounges. Opened in July 2008, membership is available to UTAS staff and students.
University services
in Devonport
UTAS students, especially those from the Devonport region, can access University services via the Devonport TAFE campus. Services include quiet study space, a telephone hotline to University staff, drop-off point for assignments and University library books, online access to the UTAS library and a meeting room.
UNIaccess
State libraries and Online Access Centres across Tasmania
can be used by students to access University email and WebCT Vista, access online library resources, the University website and student information such as timetables,
exam results etc
