Undergraduate Bachelor and Associate Degree Programs
Regional Resource Management
Duration: 3 years. Currently available only at Cradle Coast.
Aimed at a broad understanding of the critical role that the management of resources, both human and natural, plays in the development of a region. Unit stream choices: Natural Resource Management, Business Enterprise and Innovation and Community Development.
The Bachelor of Regional Resource Management provides a strong basis for a career in regional policy, planning and development.
Education
Duration: 4 years, fully available at Cradle Coast.
Early Childhood (K–Grade 2) and Primary (Grades 3-6).
First 2 years core and liberal studies units, (some liberal studies units by distance).
Please note that 4th year will commence at Cradle Coast in 2009.
Provides a comprehensive qualification in Primary Teaching. As well as teacher training, a degree in Education is a chance to learn widely applicable skills in areas such as critical thinking, communication, public presentation, leadership and childhood development.
Education and Care (Early Years)
Duration: 3 years
1st year Dip/Adv Dip in Children’s Services (TAFE).
2nd and 3rd year by distance/flexible mode with some compulsory study schools (travel may be required).
Arts
Duration: 3 years, delivery modes vary between disciplines. Some units are delivered on line, via Distance Education; some disciplines are available only at 1st year level. Options include Aboriginal Studies, Asian Studies, English, Government, History, Philosophy, Geography, Environmental Studies, Criminology and Sociology.
Also available: Associate Degree in Arts.
A degree in Arts offers widely relevant skills in thinking, research and writing with a broad understanding of culture and society. Career opportunities for Arts Graduates include journalism, teaching, marketing and communications, social policy, research, and work in government and community sectors.
Business
Duration: 3 years. Some units only available by distance.
1st and 2nd year units available at Cradle Coast, with majors in Accounting, Business Logistics, Corporate Governance and Organisational Management. Other majors may be available via cross-institutional study.
Also available: Associate Degree in Business Management and Associate Degree in General Studies.
A Business Degree has wide application for careers in management, finance and corporate governance.
Science
Duration: 3 years, 1st year only at Cradle Coast.
1st year units from Computing, Geography, Psychology, Agricultural Science and electives from other disciplines.
Also available: Associate Degree.
A degree in Science has many applications in industry, agriculture, teaching, research, business and policy planning.
Natural Environment & Wilderness Studies
Duration: 3 years, 1st year only at Cradle Coast.
1st year multi-disciplinary program, 2nd and 3rd year limited choices.
Leads to further study in the fields of Natural Resource Management, Agricultural Science and Environment: with expanding career opportunities in regional development, environmental policy and planning, business enterprise and resources management.
Psychology
Duration: 3 years, 1st year only at Cradle Coast.
1st year units Psychology plus Schedule B units from Computing, Geography, Education, Law, Management, Philosophy and Sociology.
First year Psychology is useful for anyone interested in a career in psychology, teaching, management, human services, health or well-being industries, and provides a basis for further study in the field.
Social Science (Police Studies)
Duration: 3 years, some units only available by distance.
1st year units available in Sociology, Psychology, History, Management, Law, Information Systems, Government and Philosophy.
2nd/3rd year core units are not available but History, Philosophy, Sociology and Business Management are offered as electives.
Social Science (Police Studies) offers grounding in the factors of crime and social deviance, with career prospects in policing and criminology.
Information Systems
Duration: 3 years, 1st year only at Cradle Coast.
1st year units available: electives from Business, Science and Arts.
Also available: B Info Systems/Dip Info Tech (TAFE).
Information Systems is a chance to gain high level technical skills that can equip students with a sound basis for further study and employment in a wide range of organisations.
Economics
Duration: 3 years, 1st year only at Cradle Coast.
First year Economics introduces students to the interplay of forces such as market supply and demand, finance and investment, natural resources and government policy, and how these can influence social, national and corporate wealth.
Combined Degrees and Law
A range of combined degrees are available at first year level, please refer to the online Course and Unit handbook.
Introductory 1st year Law units can be studied in most degree programs as electives and are a pre-requisite for entry into B Laws and degree programs combined with Law.

University Preparation Program
Duration: 1 or 2 Semesters
UPP is for adult learners who want to acquire or develop academic skills to prepare for tertiary study. A range of basic introductory units are available.
The program is offered face to face and by distance.
Postgraduate Degree Programs
TIAR - Tasmanian Institute for Agricultural Research
Honours, Masters and Doctoral degree programs are available through TIAR, in Agricultural Science, Agricultural Ecology and Natural Resource Management.
