Textiles

Location: Launceston

Collapsing the boundaries of fine art and craft, creativity and consumerism, failure and aspiration, my practice uses hand making to question and celebrate the power of conspicuous craft.

Textiles are part of the fabric of daily life, but in an art setting they can transform into elaborate and excessive constructions. Driven by an ethos of play, students test the limits of textiles in relations to spaces, bodies, functions and processes.

In this studio, students work to develop a practice that gives material form to their distinctive voice. They are exposed to a diverse range of skills using hand and machine with a strong emphasis on process and experimentation and the interplay between textiles and other studios and media.
