Megan Walch

Megan Walch is a graduate from the Tasmanian College of the Arts and a current PhD Candidate in painting.  She is a Samstag Scholar, and an alumnus of the San Francisco Art Institute and the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, USA. Her work has been exhibited in the United States and Australia: including Wilderness, curated by Wayne Tunnicliffe at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, 2010; Kindle and Swag - The Samstag Effect, curated by Ross Wolfe, University of South Australia Art Museum, 2004; Artists to Artists, Ace Gallery, New York, 2002; and Primavera 2000. Her recent work can be seen in the Skullbone Experiment at COFA in Sydney. Megan has undertaken residencies in New York, Taiwan, Thailand and Tokyo.

Over the past two decades Megan Walch's painting practice has developed through exploration of other cultures and environments. This art forum will focus on two recent expeditions that have contributed to the evolution of her work: The Skullbone Artist's Retreat curated by Catherine and Philip Wolfhagen in the Central Highlands of Tasmania and a three month residency in the Australia Council for the Arts Studio in Tokyo.
