Mark Thomson is a writer, designer and maker who works in the field of resourceful problem-solving cultures, championing the meaning and benefits that flow from those activities. He is the author of 7 books including 'Blokes & Sheds', 'Makers, Breakers & Fixers', 'Rare Trades' and 'The Lost Tools of Henry Hoke'. He is the founder & director of the slightly prestigious Institute of Backyard Studies and his day job is Chief Investigator at the Speculative Histories Laboratory.

In his Art Forum presentation, Mark will reflect on the profound benefits of non-goal oriented tinkering.

TCotA Forum welcomes all students and members of the public, providing a unique opportunity to hear local, national and international visiting scholars and presenters from diverse sectors of the arts discuss their area of professional practice.
