Leah Bullen is an emerging artist who graduated from the School of Art, at the Australian National University, in Canberra in 2005. Since graduating she has participated in a many group and solo shows. She also has been selected for artist residences at Canberra Contemporary Art Space, the Universidad Politecnia in Valencia, Spain, New England Regional Art Museum and the Bundanon Trust. Currently she is the visiting artist at the Gatekeeper’s Cottage at Cataract Gorge. Her new exhibition Everywhen, will open at Sawtooth ARI in October.

Bullen is fascinated by how our lives are filled with images, particularly photographic and screen mediated images from the mass media. Her narrative paintings are created out of photographic sources, which are edited through collage, drawing and the process of painting. The works are an attempt to negotiate the unending glut of images in our televisual world and to reimagine the everyday into something less than ordinary.
