Amelia Rowe'Starting Point’

2013 Recipient, Rosamond McCulloch Studio Residency, Paris

Amelia Rowe graduated from University of Tasmania in 2009 with a Bachelor of Contemporary Arts (First Class Honours) and received a University medal for academic excellence. In 2012 Amelia completed a Master of Fine Arts, examining animal modification, exploring specifically the human/canine relationship. Her sculpture practice experiments with mixed media, including taxidermy and various fabricating techniques, and is influenced by a passion for collecting ‘stuff’.

Amelia has recently returned from a four-month residency at the Rosamond McCulloch Studio at the Cité International des Arts in Paris. Amelia’s talk will focus on her Parisian experiences, sharing some of the big exhibition moments and the quieter intimate discoveries, all of which are having a profound impact on the direction and development of future art projects and her arts practice in Launceston.

The Rosamond McCulloch Studio Residency is kindly supported by the University of Tasmania and Arts Tasmania.

TCotA Forum is a series of free public lectures held at the Tasmanian College of the Arts (Inveresk). Students and members of the public are welcome to attend.
