Natalie O'Connor 

COLOUR.. and its materiality

Natalie O'Connor is the resident artist and education programs manager for Winsor & Newton, Liquitex and Conte A Paris, in Australia.

O'Connor studied Art Education at UNSW cofa achieving a Bachelor of Education and later furthered her interest in painting practice, with a Masters Degree. She is currently a PhD candidate at the UNSW art & design, researching the development and innovation of artists' colours and how it can affect the evolution of art practice.

In her role as resident artist, with her technical expertise and keen interest in artists' materials and methods of best practice, she provides technical assistance to artists globally, through the brand website and regularly presents lectures at universities and galleries across Australia. She provides residency and scholarship opportunities for emerging artists and students studying art, working closely with professional artists in the studios to assist them with solutions to their technical queries.

Over the last ten years, Natalie O'Connor has collaborated with Artist Profile Magazine to generate artist expeditions and exhibitions for many professional artists on behalf of Winsor & Newton. The most recent being 'Your Friend The Enemy'; an expedition that took a number of artists to Gallipoli to paint plein air and the exhibition is currently touring Australia. Previous projects include; Not The Way Home- an expedition and exhibition (13 artists travelled to Broken Hill and Fowlers Gap), Insight Radical (a residency at Melbourne University- art met science). This exhibition toured Australia and the UK with a supporting public education program, On This Island - An expedition to New Zealand's North Island led by Euan MacLeod. Later this year, she will travel to the Mungo National Park, with 5 women artists, to produce a body of work in situ.

TCotA Forum is a series of free public lectures held at the Tasmanian College of the Arts (Inveresk). Students and members of the public are welcome to attend. Lectures are presented by staff, visiting scholars from Tasmania, mainland Australia and overseas, industry professionals and artists-in-residence.
