Tasmanian International Video Art Festival

The concept behind the Tasmanian International Video Art Festival (TiVaF) was to celebrate the medium of video art through a curated gallery exhibition and a series of special screenings with landscape the overarching theme. Video art has a unique place in visual arts practice as a medium using many formats, techniques and technologies to tell stories and present our human existence in a way that only the moving image can achieve. Curators Jess Dorloff, Darryl Rogers and Ashley Bird conceived this festival as a way for the Launceston arts community to engage with a dedicated exhibition of international works that display the many possibilities and voices within this time based medium.
