Microseris walteri (Asteraceae) not in the Student's Flora
|
|
Microseris walteri is a lowland perennial up to 50 cm high.
It is very similar to (M.
lanceolata) but that species has several fleshy roots, while M. walteri
has a single, fleshy root that expands to a tuber. The tuber is replaced annually
and only rarely is more than one tuber produced or retained. This species was added to the Tasmanian Plant Census in 2017 and may have been overlooked or misidentified prior.
