Cynoglossum (Boraginaceae) 3:489 |
Tasmania has
two native species of Houndstongue (Cynoglossum) - the common
C suaveolens and the rare C. australe. Both are
small-medium sized, more-or-less erect herbs of dry woodlands. They
are superficially similar to Forget-Me-Nots (Myosotis)
but differ in that the mericarps ("seeds") are bristly. C.
australe has blue flowers and C. suaveolens has
white-cream-yellow ones (in Tasmanian specimens).
