Carpobrotus (Aizoaceae) 2:238

C. rossii (fruit)

Carpobrotus  species are spreading succulent plants of dry places (especially coasts). They have thick, angled and elongate leaves. Like many Aizoaceae, these species have numerous coloured "petals" (in fact staminodes). Tasmania has one native species (C. rossii), which is common in coastal areas. Tasmania also has two introduced species, which are usually larger and differ in flower colour, but are otherwise resemble C. rossii.
