Suaeda (Chenopodiaceae) 3:579 |
Tasmania has one native species of Suaeda
(S. australis) and one introduced species (S. maritima).
S. australis is a common
saltmarsh undershrub or shrub, characterised by the narrow, fleshy leaves that
are flattened in their upper surface and rounded beneath. S.
maritima is an uncommon weed of dry places. The
flowers of both species are small and clustered in the leaf axils.
Threlkeldia diffusa can be
confused with S. maritima, but grows on calcareous rocky
coasts. |
