Tasmania has four native species of this Southern Hemisphere family. They are all trees or shrubs with opposite leaves and solitary flowers.

Eucryphia lucida is the source of the important Leatherwood honey, whereas the other two genera (Bauera and Anodopetalum) are better known as sources of inconvenience to bushwalkers.
